Cambodia Clean water and toilets

Since 2021, Mooroopna Rotary have supported Rotarian Darrel Steer as he works in Cambodia building washrooms with a team of local builders. The washrooms include a two-cell septic system to fully protect ground water quality. Importantly the washrooms provide bathing privacy for women and children.

In 2022/23 the Mooroopna Rotary Club combined with over 10 other clubs from countries as diverse as Ireland, Taiwan, USA, Thailand and Australia to apply for a Rotary International Global Grant worth $200,000 US dollars to install these washrooms in Cambodia. Our local club contributed $25,000  Aus dollars which was matched by $30000 Aus from Rotary District 9790 and Rotary International.

Polio Eradication

Since 1988 Rotary has targeted the world-wide eradication of polio. Wild polio has been contained to only two countries and less than10 cases per year. We are on the cusp of a significant moment in world history.  Mooroopna Rotary contributes every year towards this goal through the key charity Rotary Foundation.

Disaster relief

Every year Mooroopna Rotary contributes funds to National and International Disasters. We have recently contributed to relief efforts in Ukraine, Tonga, Madagascar, Syria and Turkey
